Breakaway Trails is situated on the banks of the Orange River, on the border of the Free State and Transkei, between Rouxville and Aliwal North. We focus on quality rather than quantity. Accommodation is in four stand-alone en-suite mountain huts, ensuring that privacy and exclusivity for the individual, group or family is guaranteed. Although we are easy to reach by by road, we are situated in a remote area surrounded by mountains, caves, waterfall and beaches on the river bed.
At Breakaway Trails we are commited to nature conservation and are known for our bird life and small game like the Reebok and Steenbok. In the early morning you will be woken by the Fish Eagle and Hadeda (African Ibis), and in the evening you can become a part of the galaxy with it's millions of stars.
